Glide through Southwest Florida’s pristine, wildlife-filled waters with Island Vibe Cruises Southwest Florida is full of hidden gems, from secluded mangrove keys to sun-drenched sandbars, where dolphin pods live and play. Island Vibe Cruises lets you experience it all from the comfort of a boat — reaching places you wouldn’t otherwise see, even if you brought your own vessel. Our captains know the waterways, tides, and hidden features, guiding you to the best spots for wildlife, scenery, and unforgettable memories.
Goodland: Historic Old‑Florida Charm
The journey begins in Goodland, Florida, a quaint fishing village tucked just south of Marco Island. This close‑knit town has deep roots in Florida’s maritime history: its name comes from a shell mound once owned by a settler in the late 1800s.
With waterfront docks, old cottages, and a relaxed island atmosphere, Goodland is a peaceful gateway to the surrounding waterways.
Cruising the Marco River & Caxambas Bay
From Goodland, we travel along the Marco River, where mangrove islets and calm tidal creeks create a lush green mosaic. Nearby, Caxambas Bay frames the shoreline with its mangrove shores and serene estuaries. These waters are alive with marine birds, schooling fish, and graceful dolphins that often glide just beneath the surface.
A Rare View: The Mushroom House
Along our cruises, guests sometimes ask about landmarks that have become icons of Southwest Florida. One rare gem was the Cape Romano Dome home, commonly known as the are the Mushroom Houses, that once stood in the 10000 Islands. Since Hurricane Ian and the subsequent hurricanes since 2023, the Mushroom Houses have no longer been visible. We love this picture of them, captured here, from our 25’ luxury pontoon before Hurricane Ian. Guests loved photographing this whimsical home, and the image is a reminder of the area’s unique history and the fleeting nature of these landmarks. See more images in the photo gallery below.

It’s a moment that connects travelers not only with the scenery but also with the stories and memories that make this region so special.
Into the Wild: 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge
The 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge protects a vast coastal ecosystem of mangroves, marshes, and tidal creeks. This sheltered area supports a rich diversity of species. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service describes the refuge as approximately two-thirds mangrove forest and one-third brackish marsh and tropical hardwood hammock.
Wildlife is abundant: bottlenose dolphins and manatees are commonly seen, and there are nearly 200 species of fish.
Birdwatchers love this place too — over 200 bird species rely on these mangrove islands for nesting, roosting, and feeding.

Archaeological history runs deep here: prehistoric native peoples built shell mounds on some of these islands, and early European settlers later fished and lived nearby.
Sandbar Islands: Hidden Oasis
One of the highlights of our cruises is reaching a secluded sandbar island tucked among mangrove keys. These sandy islets are peaceful spaces for bird watching and offer a chance to pause, unwind, and take in panoramic views across the refuge.
